Convert OFX to QBO
OFX (Open Financial Exchange) is the generic bank-neutral format. Many banks and credit unions offer OFX downloads alongside or instead of QFX/QBO. OFX files work in generic accounting software but QuickBooks Desktop's Web Connect importer expects a QBO file with specific Intuit-specific elements.
The key differences: a QBO file for QuickBooks Web Connect should contain an INTU.BID element that matches the bank's entry in QuickBooks's institution database. Generic OFX files often lack this entirely. QBOConvert adds INTU.BID from your bank's preset (or a manual override) and outputs a .qbo file.
If your bank is in the bundled preset library, the conversion is one click. If not, the full version lets you enter the INTU.BID manually — the value your bank publishes in its OFX connection documentation.

How to convert OFX to QBO
- Download the .ofx file from your bank.
- Open QBOConvert and select → QBO.
- Drop the .ofx file. The tool reports the detected FID and ORG.
- If your bank is in the preset list, select it. Otherwise, enter the INTU.BID manually in the override field (full version).
- Download the .qbo file and import in QuickBooks: File → Utilities → Import → Web Connect Files.
Questions
What is INTU.BID?
INTU.BID is an Intuit-specific element in OFX-family files. It identifies the financial institution for QuickBooks's bank matching logic. Without a valid INTU.BID, QuickBooks either rejects the file or prompts you to manually match it to an institution in its list.
My bank isn't in the preset list. How do I find the INTU.BID?
Some banks publish their OFX connection parameters in their online banking help. Community-maintained OFX FID lists (searchable online) also document many institutions. Enter the value directly in the INTU.BID override field.
What if INTU.BID is already in the OFX file?
QBOConvert reports the existing INTU.BID in the file info panel. If that value is correct, you can convert without overriding it. If QuickBooks still rejects the file, the INTU.BID may be invalid for QuickBooks even if it was valid for another application.
